Technology + business + human values = design innovation

title_big_picture_03bSome years I got to know the Stanford Institute of Design through the internet. Since then, they became my reference in terms of design thinking. Last post, I was commenting about my uncertainty regarding how I should name what I do professionally. Those guys are my best answer so far. Last year, when I was in Brazil, I was invited to be part of an innovation team at C.E.S.A.R. What you see in the picture, it’s more or less what that group at C.E.S.A.R was aiming to do. It was an extremely rewarding experience. Since then, my interest on user-centered design moved slightly to the business side of it. The user is the center, as it used to be, but being user focused doesn’t mean necessarily it’s a good idea from the business point-of-view. And, as we say in brazil, someone has to pay the bill.
Before I finish this post I have to say that behind d.school there are people from IDEO, and vice-versa. 🙂 That’s not a surprise, is it? This post is my modest way of saying thanks for those who are my source of inspiration.
